Happy 65th Birthday Townes Van Zandt

Today, March 7th is Townes Van Zandt's birthday. The Texas troubadour would have been 65 years old today.
Much has been said and written about the late great Townes Van Zandt. Probably the most famous quote comes from Steve Earle when he stated emphatically, "Townes Van Zandt is the best songwriter in the whole world. And I'll stand on Bob Dylan's coffee table in my cowboy boots and say that." You can decide for your self if you agree, but it's a tough point to argue.
In the spirit of TVZ's birthday I wanted to share a couple of my favorite tracks from his "Live At The Old Quarter" double disc. Head on over to Doctor Mooney's blog to hear that 1973 show in its entirety. In the meantime enjoy a couple favorites here. We miss you Townes. Happy Birthday.
