Dan Auerbach w/ Justin Townes Earle December Tour Dates Cancelled

I've done a little interweb snooping and can't figure out why the Dan Auerbach and Justin Townes Earle cancellation occurred. Anybody got anything?

I've heard The Black Keys were freeing up time for work on their Blakroc project (A Black Keys collaboration with hip-hop artists; RZA, Mos Def, Q-Tip, and many more). Pretty bummed the December shows got canned. Anybody have any input?

If it is any consolation, the Blakroc stuff sounds pretty good.

I've had a very hard time taking either Justin Townes Earle or Dan Auerbach out of heavy rotation on my ipod this year. Now they will be touring together this fall/winter...should make for some good shows.

Dan Auerbach - Heartbroken, In Disrepair - VIDEO

Yesterday My Old Kentucky Blog posted Dan Auerbach's new video for the track 'Heartbroken, In Disrepair'. Normally I have mixed feelings about basically reposting whats already out there but I couldn't resist. The video is fitting (for us chi town folk) given the Blackhawks performance last night. It was shot in some field in Texas, and it shows, the whole thing has an eery resemblance to the 1974 Texas Chainsaw Masacre. Great tune, great vid. enjoy!

Dan Auerbach @ Bowery Ballroom 3/3/09 (Setlist & Pictures)

Dan Auerbach brought his solo act to the Bowery Ballroom on this chilly Tuesday in New York. He treated the crowd to some of his heavy distortion guitar antics but also to some of the quieter tracks off "Keep It Hid". I thoroughly enjoy the Feb. 7th Black Keys show but it was a treat to see Auerbach get down with a full backing band that included all of Hacienda and Pat Hallahan from My Morning Jacket on percussion. For any doubting if he could pull off the solo bit Auerbach left no question. He can carry a show in either format. The show wasn't long and he played most all of his solo debut album. He managed to still impress on the guitar and show us all a little of his softer side and the vocal talents that he revealed on "Keep It Hid". Go see him (again) when he makes it to your town. Dan Auerbach - "Keep It Hid"

Got our hands on Dan Auerbach's solo album titled "Keep It Hid" and we're thrilled. Gave it a first listen last night, lots of goodness on there. As you can tell we're already fans. Read some stuff out there in this here blogosphere/interweb that said the album was basically a Black Keys album under a different name but I disagree. There are obviously similarities between Dan's solo work and his work with the Black Keys but hes definitely got something fresh going on with "Keep It Hid". Check out his myspace page, tune in, and let us know what you think.
