Something like 173 bands played this year's AthFest (Athens, GA June 25-28). The lineup included HGH faves Dead Confederate, Patterson Hood, and Those Darlins, but perhaps no performance was as anticipated as the reunion of local new wave pioneers, Dreams So Real. DSR is one of the bands often cited with putting Athens, GA on the map as a significant musical home for bands and destination for fans. They were right in the mix alongside R.E.M, The B-52's, and others in the 80's and early 90's in Athens. Some of those images are captured in Mark Gayton's 1986 documentary Athens, GA: Inside/Out.
We couldn't be there for DSR's reunion performance a couple weeks back, but we wanted to share some pics from the occasion. From all accounts the guys still got it and good times were had by all. On a personal note I have gotten a chance to get to know DSR bassist Trent Allen in the last few months. He's a good man and I know he was excited for this show. Sorry I missed it. Very cool to see th pictures though. Many more under the fold. Anybody out there get to see the show?
